Prepare Our Hearts: Diving Deeper

See Jesus

So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvellous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you.
1 Peter 1:13 TPT

I just heard this testimony last night...
"Pastor Kevin, after that encounter I had with the Lord... I will never be the same again!"

Don't we all want that to be our fresh testimony? I do!

We have been spending time the last few weeks focusing on the person and the works of the Holy Spirit. We have been looking at the baptism of the Holy Spirit and its importance to the believer to operate in power and authority in fulfilling the call of God on our lives.

There have been testimonies of breakthrough and change in peoples lives as they have experienced the faithful Promise of the Father (Acts 1:4) poured out over their lives. Peace replacing anger. Sound thinking instead of skepticism. Joy instead of pain! Lord, we ask for more of this transformation power!

This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. That is the Sunday closest to 50 days following Resurrection Sunday. In the book of Acts Chapter 2 we see the occasion of the Promised Holy Spirit coming after the ascension of Jesus. 50 is a grace number, symbolizing freedom, deliverance from burdens, Jubilee.

Grace chases on the heels of repentance. Where there is repentance, grace follows immediately!

We see this in Acts 2:38-41 when Peter instructs the crowd to "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
and 3000 people are saved and filled with the Spirit.

We find in many places in the Bible that when people repent and change their minds to be led by the Spirit revival breaks out! This is common place through the entire book of Acts!

Family, we desire to follow this example and submit ourselves to the model that we see in operation throughout the Word of God.

Please join us on Saturday evening at 7PM (May 27) as we will be gathering for a time to "Prepare Our Hearts" in advance of Pentecost Sunday.

Hearts and minds that are repentant and willing to be changed... will be changed! That is a work of the Holy Spirit and he is so faithful to do that. We are anticipating a mighty move of the Spirit as we give him permission to revive us and move in power!

Know Jesus

This week, you can dive deeper into the message through one or all of the following:

  • Listen to Pastor Kevin’s message by visiting the Podcast page.

  • Do a DBS on Acts 2!

  • Continue to declare the word of God over your life and over others.  You can use the declarations above or you can write your own based on scriptures that Holy Spirit is highlighting to you right now.

Discovery Bible Study

TO BEGIN

Pray and ask Holy Spirit to teach you about God from His word.

Next, read the verse a couple of times.

Now, ask these questions:

  1. What does this tell me about God/Jesus?

  2. What does this tell me about people?

  3. How can I respond to what I just read?

When you’re done asking these questions, it’s a great idea to pray and thank God for teaching you more about who He is and who you are!

Discovery Bible Study (DBS) is a way for anyone, anywhere to read God's word! You can dive deeper into this week's message by doing a DBS one any one or all of these scriptures. DBS is a great tool to use for your own devotions, as a bible study with friends, or as an evangelism tool!

Prayer Prompts

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to stir a hunger in your heart for God.

  • If you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, pray that He will fill you afresh.

  • If you aren't sure if you are baptized in Holy Spirit and would like to be, let's pray together.
