Stir It Up!: Diving Deeper

See Jesus

The Bible has so much to say about the words that we speak and how powerful they are.  Proverbs tells us that the power of life and death is in the tongue.  The things we speak really matter.

Family, have you considered how powerful your voice is getting as you fall deeper in love with God?  As you draw near to Him, you are changing.  You are becoming more like Him and sounding more like Him.

With your voice you now can lift up the name of Jesus and declare trust in Him!

With your voice you now can speak life and blessing over yourself and others!

With your voice you now can agree with the truth of the Bible in faith!

This week, Pastor Kevin encouraged us to "stir up the gift that has been given to us" (2 Tim. 1:6).  He reminded us that we have been given THE GIFT of the Holy Spirit and what a precious gift He is!  Through our baptism in the Holy Spirit many more gifts have been deposited in us.

So Family, in faith, let's take some time to use our powerful voices to declare and agree with the Word.

to declare (verb)
1: to make known formally, officially, or explicitly
2: to make clear
3: to make evident : show
4: to state emphatically : affirm

The following declarations are based on many of the scriptures referenced in Pastor Kevin's message this week.  You can read these out loud.  In fact, I strongly encourage you to.  I also invite you, to write down any that especially stick out to you.  You can pray these out through the week and allow faith to rise as you do!

"Jesus said I would receive power and be His witness when I am baptized in the Holy Spirit and I believe Him." (see Acts 1:8)

"The Spirit God gave me does not make me timid, but gives me power, love and self-discipline." (see 2 Timothy 1:7)

"I say to every situation that would try to conquer me in this season: I will overcome not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts".  (see Zechariah 4:6)

As we continue moving through this series, I know that a desire for more of Holy Spirit is growing.  The Lord is producing hunger in us for a move of His Spirit and faith is rising.  Let it continue Lord!

Bless you as you use your powerful voices for the glory of God!  Grace and peace to you.

Know Jesus

This week, you can dive deeper into the message through one or all of the following:

  • Listen to Pastor Kevin’s message by visiting the Podcast page.

  • Do a DBS on 2 Timothy 1:6-7

Discovery Bible Study

TO BEGIN

Pray and ask Holy Spirit to teach you about God from His word.

Next, read the verse a couple of times.

Now, ask these questions:

  1. What does this tell me about God/Jesus?

  2. What does this tell me about people?

  3. How can I respond to what I just read?

When you’re done asking these questions, it’s a great idea to pray and thank God for teaching you more about who He is and who you are!

Discovery Bible Study (DBS) is a way for anyone, anywhere to read God's word! You can dive deeper into this week's message by doing a DBS one any one or all of these scriptures. DBS is a great tool to use for your own devotions, as a bible study with friends, or as an evangelism tool!

2 Timothy 1:6-7
"Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.."

Prayer Prompts

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to stir a hunger in your heart for God.

  • If you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, pray that He will fill you afresh.

  • If you aren't sure if you are baptized in Holy Spirit and would like to be, let's pray together.
