Rekindle 🔥 Part 1: Diving Deeper

Be sure to scroll to the bottom to the “Share Jesus” section on ways you can impact our community this week. There is a lot going on!

See Jesus

Dear Family!

Pastor Merodee spoke of a very important truth on Sunday in her first message of the new series Rekindle.
She told us that the very reason that we are able to have a life or a family that is committed and dedicated to the Lord is because Jesus provided the way through surrendering himself on an altar. He was the perfect submission as he allowed himself to be the perfectly acceptable sacrifice at the "altar of the wooden cross"!

This is such a profound and foundational truth! The cross of Calvary was a harsh, rustic altar. This altar was one that judged fully, completely, and severely! Any sacrifice that was less than perfect and sufficient would be without effect or benefit, the only result... pain, much suffering, and only death.

Jesus was the perfect and sufficient sacrifice so the result of the cross was still pain, much suffering, and death... that had to happen in order for the penalty of the sin of the world to be paid in full.
The final result of Christ, The Messiah, on the alter of the cross though was LIFE! RESURRECTION LIFE. Jesus conquered the penalty of sin and death!

There is no longer any battle between God and the enemy... none! That is a finished work, the enemy is a defeated foe!

HE SACRIFICED FOR THEIR SINS ONCE FOR ALL WHEN HE OFFERED HIMSELF
Hebrews 7:27

HE APPEARED ONCE FOR ALL AT THE CULMINATION OF THE AGES TO DO AWAY WITH SIN BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF
Hebrews 9:26

From this we see that under the New Covenant of Grace, family altars are possible!

"Jesus life, death, and resurrection did not make the family altar null and void! NO! Jesus made it possible!!" Pastor Merodee

Thank you Heavenly Father for such a gracious gift of RIGHTEOUSNESS through Jesus! Holy Spirit seal that work within us! Set the altars of our hearts afire again! Rekindle the fire within our families in Jesus mighty name!

Know Jesus

This week, you can dive deeper into the message through one or all of the following:

  • See Jesus righteousness as your righteousness, Jesus sacrifice allows for our own submission without fear or rejection!

  • Do a DBS (instructions below) on Hebrews 9:26

  • Listen to Sunday's Podcast.

  • Pray to the Father and ask for the Holy Spirit to teach you about Jesus sacrifice and your righteousness which is by grace THROUGH faith.

Discovery Bible Study

TO BEGIN

Pray and ask Holy Spirit to teach you about God from His word.

Next, read the verse a couple of times.

Now, ask these questions:

  1. What does this tell me about God/Jesus?

  2. What does this tell me about people?

  3. How can I respond to what I just read?

When you’re done asking these questions, it’s a great idea to pray and thank God for teaching you more about who He is and who you are!

Discovery Bible Study (DBS) is a way for anyone, anywhere to read God's word! You can dive deeper into this week's message by doing a DBS one any one or all of these scriptures. DBS is a great tool to use for your own devotions, as a bible study with friends, or as an evangelism tool!

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
-Deuteronomy 6:4-7
