Jesus Our Substitute: Diving Deeper

Growing up, my Mom was a substitute teacher. She would be asked to come to the school and act or serve in the place of another. As a substitute, Mom was given the position, the tasks and the authority of the person she was filling in for.
We would say, "Who are you today, Mom?" And she would reply, "Today, I am Mrs. _________".
This past Sunday, Pastor Kevin taught us that Jesus Is Our Substitute!

Jesus Is Our Substitute in Life
We are Jesus' Substitute Here On Earth Until His Return
Jesus, Our Substitute in Death:
Jesus came to earth, the cross and the grave to act and serve in the place of another ... in the place of you, me and everyone in all the world. Thank you Lord Jesus!
We read it this way in Isaiah 53:6,
"...and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."
Sin has not been merely swept under a rug. That would make God unjust. No, our sin was fully laid upon our substitute, Christ Jesus, and God the Father judged sin righteously.
This is the finished work of Christ yet it must be received by faith by every person.
Christ Jesus' death was our death too.
Jesus, Our Substitute In Life:
If we choose to associate with Jesus in His Death, then we associate with Him in His Life.
The Apostle Paul says it this way,
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ Jesus lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
Galatians 2:20
We died in Christ and He now lives through us!! Meditate on this truth, the same power (Holy Spirit) that raised Christ Jesus from the dead is now at work in you!
How does your day change with that truth? See your Risen Saviour powerfully living His Life through you.
His righteousness is yours. His health is yours. His provision is yours. His victory is yours.
Christ Jesus' Resurrection was our resurrection too!
We Are Jesus' Substitute On Earth:
Jesus' death was our death too. Jesus' Resurrection was our resurrection too. Jesus' Mission is our mission too!
If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, then you are among those commissioned "be" Christ's witness. You are a witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. This witness is a result of Christ living His life through us by the Person and the Power of Holy Spirit!
Christ Jesus' Mission is our mission too!

Lord Jesus, thank you for being my substitute on the Cross. Because of you, my sin has been judged in full. Thank you for being my substitute in Resurrection. Because of you, I live resurrection life now. Holy Spirit, I pray that you will fill me again today and empower me to a witness of Jesus Christ in all I do and say. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
