Scriptures Concerning The Name of Jesus

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

 

“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.  But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son.  And he gave him the name Jesus.”  Matthew 1:24-25

 

“All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”  Matthew 10:22

 

“Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name.”  John 2:23

 

“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”  John 3:18

“But these things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”  John 20:31

 

Scriptures in the Book of Acts Concerning The Name:

 

“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  Acts 2:21

 

“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  Acts 2:38

 

“The Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you.  In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”  Acts 3:6

 

“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong.  It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.”  Acts 3:16

 

“They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”

 

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said …

 

Then know this, you and all the people of Israel:  It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. …

“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.  Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”  Acts 4:29-30

 

“We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, “ he said. “ Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood. …”

His speech persuaded them.  They called the apostles in and had them flogged.  Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.  Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.” 

Acts 5:28, 40-42

 

“But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ they were baptized, both men and women.”  Acts 8:12

 

“And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.” … But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel.  I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”  Acts 9:14-16

 

“All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t this the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? … But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles.  He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and  how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.”  Acts 9:21, 27

 

“All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”  Acts 10: 43

 

“So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.”  Acts 10:48

 

“So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul – men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 

Acts 15:25-26
