Grace for these days! : Diving Deeper

See Jesus

The last days. The end times. The season of time prior to Jesus Second Coming, Jesus Triumphal Return is kicked off and marked by something so miraculous so wonderful and so unbelievable that it captivates the hearts, lives, and circumstances of millions of people around the globe and through the generations!
What is it that identifies this time so clearly and defines it so distinctly from all other times in history?
GRACE...
Specifically the GRACE of God through Jesus...
When the apostle Luke is penning the book of Acts he writes the following in Acts 2:17 "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams."
This is quoting the prophet Joel from Joel chapter 2. Later in Acts 2:38 Luke writes... "Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
The Spirit in the last days is made available to everyone. Everyone who repents and places their hope in Jesus as Lord and Saviour "will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." This is miraculous! And new!
Prior to Jesus ushering in the New Covenant, only certain people on certain occasions were filled with the Spirit for a unique, often short term purpose. In the New Covenant though, the Holy Spirit is poured out for all who call upon the name of the Lord. What used to be a sprinkling here and there is now a flood... a continual pouring out.
In the Old Covenant there was no provision for, or promise of, an abiding presence of the Spirit in anyone's life... never mind everyone's life! Now in the New Covenant of Jesus blood there is full provision of the Spirit, a continual eternal abiding of the Spirit in every life that receives Jesus as Saviour.
This new way of doing things is the fullness of Grace! Salvation is now offered in a way that was completely unknown and unimaginable ... to "whoever calls on the name of the LORD!"
The pouring out of the Spirit in the last days has been happening since the first men, women, and children repented and were baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins.
The Spirit is the confirmation of Jesus' resurrection, the seal of our salvation, and the Comforter while we await Jesus return.
We are in a season of Grace, in fact we are in a "fire sale" of Grace. It doesn't come cheap, but Jesus has paid for it all! God doesn't want anyone to miss out, but it is for a limited time!
Be sure to tell your friends about it... no rain checks & no hoarding!!
Blessings of Grace to you, all the world!

Know Jesus

This week, you can dive deeper into the message through one or all of the following:

  • There is an important message to make sure the world hears... how can you help them get it?

  • Do a DBS on Acts 2:38-39

  • Consider praying for the prayer prompts this week.

Discovery Bible Study

TO BEGIN

Pray and ask Holy Spirit to teach you about God from His word.

Next, read the verse a couple of times.

Now, ask these questions:

  1. What does this tell me about God/Jesus?

  2. What does this tell me about people?

  3. How can I respond to what I just read?

When you’re done asking these questions, it’s a great idea to pray and thank God for teaching you more about who He is and who you are!

Discovery Bible Study (DBS) is a way for anyone, anywhere to read God's word! You can dive deeper into this week's message by doing a DBS one any one or all of these scriptures. DBS is a great tool to use for your own devotions, as a bible study with friends, or as an evangelism tool!

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38

Prayer Prompts

  • Pray for the Lord to lead us in worship by His Spirit.

  • Pray for deeper revelation of the heart of God towards us and towards others.

  • Pray for the influx of souls into the Kingdom! Pray that the love of God would shine through the family as we are on mission through hospitality.
