This week, we wrap up the series, Biblical Prophecy, by considering our ability to respond to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus and the promise of His return.

I remember the evening I first told Kevin I loved him. We had written the words of love to each other but we had never said them out loud.

We were out for a walk. It was snowing big snowflakes. Kevin walked ahead, breaking a trail when I was overwhelmed with love for him and I blurted out, “I love you!”

All of a sudden I felt very anxious! I had initiated the next level in our relationship and I waited for his response….

The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is a Responsive- Gospel. The Gospel is not informative for information’s sake. The Gospel informs us of God’s intentions towards us and then gives opportunity to respond!

The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ teaches us that we are all sinners, each of us having gone our own separate way, all having fallen short of the glory or the standard of God’s holiness. There is no one righteous, no not one!

Fallen short of the glory of God, all of us deserve eternal damnation and separation from the One True and Holy God.

Yet "God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

In mercy, God gave His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be our atonement. Christ Jesus came to take on himself our sin, our death, our separation from God! This is true for every person in all the world.

We cannot piece-meal out the Word of God. We must keep salvation through Jesus Christ in context of "whosoever believes". Salvation is a gift of grace from God, received through faith!

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-“

Ephesians 2:8

By grace, God has forgiven the sin of the whole world through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God so loved the world, he gave his Son.

Yet each person has a response to make: receive by faith or reject by unbelief.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that whosoever believes shall not perish but have everlasting life.

We read in 1 Peter 2:24,

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”

God initiates his kindness and grace towards us. In this passage we are informed that Christ Jesus bore our sins in his body on the tree (cross).

We, as powerful beings of choice and will, have the ability to respond.

We see all the way through the Gospel the ability of humanity to respond to God.
